The research of the department is organized in three scientific working groups, namely Physics of Hot Stars, Extrasolar Planet Research, and High Energy Astrophysics.

Research topics

  • Measuring radial velocities of exoplanet
  • Characterizaton of exoplanet atmospheres
  • Ground based follow-up of TESSand Kepler planetary candidates
  • RR Lyrae stars and stellar pulsation

Research topic

  • Observation and studding of high energy sources including gamma-ray bursts and their optical afterglow, active galactic nuclei, blazers, X‑ray binaries, and cataclysmic variables.
  • Design and development of new innovative space experiments with an emphasis on X‑ray optics, telescopes, and monitors.
